Grade 8 | Numbers
☐ Understand Binary Numbers
☐ Understand Hexadecimal Numbers
☐ Convert from base ten to another base number, and vice versa.
☐ Round a number to a required number of decimal places or a required number of significant digits.
☐ Understand that there are other numeral systems such as Roman numerals, and how to convert from one system to the other.
☐ Understand what is meant by a surd, and that if you can't simplify a number to remove a square root(or cube root etc) then it is a surd.

☐ Calculate a square root using the 'guess method'.
☐ Be familair with various rounding methods and when to use them
Grade 8 | Percentages
☐ Read, write, and identify percents less than 1% and greater than 100%

Grade 8 | Ratios
☐ Know how to share a quantity in a given ratio e.g. Share the profits of a company in the ratio of the investments of the partners

Grade 8 | Measurement
☐ Solve equations/proportions to convert to equivalent measurements within the metric measurement system
☐ Know the metric units of speed (velocity): meters per second (ms-1) and kilometers per hour (kmh-1)
☐ Recognize the difference between the expressions 'weight' and 'mass', and know the correct metric unit for weight (Newton)
☐ Solve equations/proportions to convert to equivalent measurements from metric to customary measurement systems and vice versa.
☐ Solve equations/proportions to convert to equivalent measurements within the US standard measurement system
☐ Know the standard US units of speed (velocity): Feet per second(fps) and Miles per hour(mph).
☐ Recognize the difference between the expressions 'weight' and 'mass', and know the correct US standard unit for weight (pound-force)

Grade 8 | Inequalities
☐ Translate verbal sentences into algebraic inequalities.
☐ Solve multi-step inequalities and graph the solution set on a number line
☐ Solve linear inequalities by combining like terms, using the distributive property, or moving variables to one side of the inequality (include multiplication or division of inequalities by a negative number)
☐ Graph the solution set of an inequality on a number line
Grade 8 | Coordinates
☐ Determine the equation of a line given the slope and the y-intercept, and vice versa
☐ Understand Polar Coordinates, and how to convert from Cartesian coordinates to polar coordinates and vice versa.
☐ Calculate the area of a polygon given the coordinates of its vertices
☐ Know how to find the slope and y-intercept of a straight line from its graph
Grade 8 | Quadratic Equations
☐ Recognize the characteristics of quadratics in tables, graphs, equations, and situations

☐ Find a set of ordered pairs to satisfy a given linear numerical pattern (expressed algebraically); then plot the ordered pairs and draw the line
☐ Solve systems of equations graphically (only linear, integer solutions, y=mx+b format, no vertical/horizontal lines)
☐ Distinguish between linear and nonlinear equations ax2 + bx + c; a=1 (only graphically)
☐ Create a graph given a description or an expression for a situation involving a linear or nonlinear relationship
☐ Determine the slope of a line from a graph and explain the meaning of slope as a constant rate of change
